In this phase of life, a girl or a boy has built enough experience to start building his character. Her or his body has grown enough to do many activities including good handwriting. Also, they develop fair knowledge to start learning. This helps them feel self-reliant in many areas of their lives.
Children between (7-9) years gain weight and increase height steadily. They develop hand-eye coordination more appropriately than previous years, especially small muscles. They dress themselves smoothly and write clearly. They can ride a two-wheeled bicycle and do a handstand. Also, they have the ability to use implements such as scissors, clippers and makeup brushes. They are full of energy and eager to do some activities like climbing, dancing, and skateboarding.
In this stage, children start to realize the difference between right and wrong and acknowledge values and beliefs. They begin to develop independence from parents and family and avoid adults in general. As a result, they become more connected to peers, mostly with the same sex, and try to build a good relationship with them. By doing this, they seek to build their own identities. In fact, they think about the future and feel guilt which leads them to worry a lot. In fact, They become self-critical which may lead to low self-confidence.
During this stage of life, they acquired thousands of words which are displayed in their joy to tell stories and express feelings. Regarding reading, they are able to say the sound for each letter and reading become easier and easier. Also, they become aware of time by recognizing days, months and seasons. They start to solve mixed-up problems like identifying the difference and similarities between two objects. They are developing logical thinking and can grasp reasoning. As a result of movement and thinking growth, they enjoy games like treasure hunts or scavenger hunts. They can be more self-directed in such activities and the can appreciate diversity in opinions.
Learning styles become obvious. Teachers and parents ought to consider such varieties and preferred ways of learning. Students become more confident when they learn more and have a presumption that they can learn easily.
