At this moment, almost all girls and
most boys have completed puberty. It is time to be more level-headed.
Teenagers care much about their body growth. For them, their bodies are symbols for self-ego. It is very annoying for them to be over weighted, for instance.
They tend to have certain strong emotions. This is very clear with romantic relationships. They are pleased and satisfied when accepted by the opposite sex. Sensitivity is common among teenagers. Mainly, when they confront challenges with financial affairs and when their need for love and romantic dealings are not satisfying. Their anger and resentment are coming from what they used to do when they are younger and what they are expected to be as viewed by their societies or families.
At this age, they reach a high level of thinking abilities. They think thoroughly about their future, mainly, their education and upcoming jobs. Generally, teenagers are a bit aware of their decision results.
In their journey to be independently mature, they are trying to build their own ideology via questioning social, school and parental values and exploring about life philosophies. Friends influence their values and philosophies greatly.
Understanding that teenagers are seeking independence and privacy, parents and teachers have to bear in mind that some behaviors should not be taken personally; they are still growing. This does not mean they should not have rules by parents or schools. They still need guidelines and boundaries. However, a teenager and her\his home or school can agree upon these rules.
Schools are ought to take care of teenagers through activities in healthy environments like camps and clubs. Such activities help them to build desirable behaviors, required skills and true self-confidence. Health and sexual education are worthy to be included in school curriculums. Since today teenagers are born with this technology and communication renaissance, they consider the absence of this renaissance as disappointment and cannot justify that a school bans mobile phones, for example.
